Simbya Farmers Cooperative Society Ltd is a farmer-focused cooperative based in Bundibugyo District, Uganda, established to strengthen the livelihoods of cocoa farmers through collective action, improved farming practices, and stronger participation in the cocoa value chain. The Cooperative brings cocoa farmers together to enhance their bargaining power and secure better and fairer prices for their produce while providing training and education on good agricultural practices, cocoa quality improvement, post-harvest handling, and sustainable production. It also supports farmers through warehousing and proper storage, as well as continuous monitoring and engagement with cocoa farmers to promote quality, productivity, and adherence to recommended farming practices. By aggregating farmers' produce and building stronger relationships with reliable buyers, processors, exporters, and other value-chain partners, Simbya Farmers Cooperative Society Ltd works to provide its members with better and more reliable market access, reduce exploitation by intermediaries, improve household incomes, and contribute to the sustainable development of the cocoa sector in Bundibugyo District and Uganda at large.
